History: Named after O. W. Sadberry Sr., who served as principal of Bryan’s Booker T. Washington Elementary School from 1949-1970 and significantly impacted the Bryan community. He helped encourage African-American students in the community to pursue higher education and helped guide the district and the Bryan public library through integration. During the 1950s, Mr. Sadberry helped Tuskegee Airmen and other Black military officers stationed at the Bryan Air Field. This history and experience with the Tuskegee Airmen is the gensis of the school's mascot, named for the P-51 Mustang planes the Tuskegee Airmen flew.
